> drop into the Old Fire Station on a Saturday morning between 10.30 – 12.30pm
> ring Gemma 07984 694907
If you walk by the Old Fire Station on a Tuesday evening and hear cries for help interceded with lots of laughter don’t be alarmed, there’s nothing sinister going on just members of the society busy rehearsing Murder in the Marsh (and having a lot of fun whilst doing so).
This promises to be an enjoyable and light hearted evening with a different ending each night. Bring your own refreshments; sit and just sit back and be entertained whilst trying to work out the all important question – ‘Who did it?’ Will your table win the prize for guessing, I mean cleverly deducting, correctly?
We need to keep fundraising to be able to support all the community projects we do so please come along and support this event; tickets are just £8 for members and £10 for non members.
QUIZ night on Saturday 22nd APRIL 7 for 7.30pm at Chichester Memorial Hall (SOLD OUT)

Our next event is our 60th Anniversary Ball on Fri 25th November 2022 – definitely a date for your diary. Further details and how to get tickets to follow shortly.
SUMMER GARDEN PARTY on the 7th August 2022 – all tickets have been SOLD OUT.
For upcoming events please see our annual events programme 2022 tab.
If you enjoyed our Church tour in 2000, you will enjoy this one even more!
And if you couldn’t get a seat on the last trip (which sold out very quickly), you can make up for it now…
The feedback from the last trip was 100% positive – (“a lot of smiling faces”) and we have been asked to put on another trip since then – so here it is.
FOUR different churches to visit, again with the informative and entertaining John Hendy of The Romney Marsh Historic Churches Trust who has a wealth of experience on the Churches on the Marsh.
You will come away having learnt the most amazing unimaginable facts about the churches, having had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
We will visit two churches in the morning and then stop for lunch at the Star Inn, St Mary in the Marsh where a ploughman’s lunch will be provided. Time for an unhurried meal and drink, before the final two and back to Sandgate. Please advise of any dietary requirements on booking.
If you would like to book your seats now, please email us on sandgatesociety@gmail.com and be prepared to have a very pleasant day!

Just 2 weeks to go. This year it is bring your own nibbles and refreshments – there will be a half an hour intermission in which to enjoy this whilst you ponder the picture round. If you would still like Fish and Chips, you could order from the Little Fish Shop for collection at 2030.
As we have been asked for teams of four, the price will now be £5 per person, with a maximum of 6 team members.
This is always a fun evening to test your general knowledge, vent your frustration (“I said THAT”) and make the most of socialising after such a long time.
There are a few tables left, so please either email sandgatesociety@gmail.com or ring Gemma on 07984 694907 to ensure your place.
SANDGATE SALE SAFARI is back by popular demand so make sure you put Sunday 29th May in your diary.
Last year visitors tended to congregate in certain areas of Sandgate, so this year we have some stalls available by the Sir John Moore Memorial by the Beacon on the seafront. If you are interested in having a stall ether at home or on the seafront please email sandgatesociety@gmail.com or ring Gemma on 07984 694907 and look out for updates on www.sandgatesociety.com.
The good news is that this is something that hasn’t gone up! Stalls will be at the same price of £5 with all profits going towards community events such as Sandgate’s very own Queen’s Platinum’s Jubilee Beach and Parade Party on Sunday 5th June. Please spread the word and help us make this year’s sale an even bigger success than last year’s.
We are always grateful for an extra pair of hands when putting on a big event like this so please let us know if you would like to get involved.
In addition to the exhibition members also have the excellent opportunity for priority booking onto a Guided Walk, led by Blue Badge Guide Robert Sissons, where you will walk in the footsteps of H.G. Wells; explore his Sandgate and find out more about this fascinating character.
The Guided Walk will take place on Saturday 2nd April at 2pm and Sunday 3rd April at 2pm and will cost £5 (including tea/coffee and cake afterwards in the Reading Room). Please book in advance by either emailing sandgatesociety@gmail.comor by ringing Gemma on 07984 694907. There are only twenty places available on each walk so book early to secure a place.
