The Sandgate Society own (from March 2023) the Old Fire Station which is open every Saturday morning from 10.30am-12.30pm – enjoy a cup of coffee (and sometimes freshly baked cake!) and on the ground floor explore the wonderful archive of historical documents, images and artefacts.

On the first floor is the wood panelled Reading Room which is a popular space for small gatherings, meetings, classes etc holding up to 30 people.  It also has kitchen and toilet facilities.

Unfortunately, it is not suitable for the disabled as can only be accessed by a flight of stairs.

The Reading Room is available for hire – please contact us as below to see what days and times are available. Early booking is advised as the room is in regular use.

Our hiring charges are as follows:

Up to 2 hours £20.00

Up to 4 hours £30.00

Daily rate £50.00

Hirers are asked to sign a Terms and Conditions form and follow the instructions in the Health and Safety Guide including instructions in case of fire.
