The society takes an active role in reviewing and commenting on planning applications in Sandgate submitted to Folkestone & Hythe District Council and considered by Sandgate Parish Council.
The revised Sandgate Design Statement (2020)(click here) details a series of design principles to be used by developers, homeowners and for planners to reference when considering individual planning applications. The SDS aims to ensure Sandgate village’s diverse building and landscape heritage is not compromised and any new developments and building alterations enhance this environment.
Compliance with the Sandgate Design Statement
All planning applications for new development in Sandgate parish should include a
statement demonstrating how they have complied with the Principles of the Sandgate Design Statement.
The Sandgate Design Statement is a ‘supplementary planning document’ and a ‘material consideration’ in considering planning applications.
