The society takes an active role in reviewing all planning applications in Sandgate submitted to Shepway Council and considered by Sandgate Parish Council.
The Village Design Statement (VDS)* details a framework for planners to consider individual planning applications to ensure Sandgate’s diverse building and landscape heritage is not undermined and any new developments and building alterations are sympathetic to this context. The VDS is a ‘supplementary planning document’ and must be a ‘material consideration’ in considering planning applications.
