Care about Sandgate village- then the Sandgate Society is for you

The Sandgate Society is a civic society – registered charity No. 280497 – campaigning for 60 years to preserve and enhance Sandgate village’s unique built and natural heritage and to promote the well-being of our community.

New members are welcome

The society’s historic headquarters is the Old Fire Station (51 Sandgate High Street Kent CT20 3AH) which is open every Saturday morning from 10.00am to 12.30pm.

The Sandgate Society in December 2022 successfully amalgamated with Sandgate Heritage Trust Ltd to take ownership of the Old Fire Station. The new Charitable Incorporated Organisation (ICO) is undertaking a programme of works to make the building compliant with a recent Fire Risk Assessment and to prevent further water penetration from the roof.

The new governance arrangements mean that the Sandgate Society no longer pays rent but is responsible for the upkeep of a Grade II listed building which aligns with one of the society’s main objectives which is ‘protecting our heritage’.
